Volunteer
![]() Habitat volunteers contribute more than muscle. Creativity, strategy, and technical skills are among the many invaluable traits volunteers bring to the organization. With a minimal staff, Habitat for Humanity, Prince William County, Manassas & Manassas Park depends upon volunteers for support with Family Selection, Public Relations, Construction Skills Training, and Volunteer Services. We also offer opportunities in our ReStore, a building materials recycling center. We invite volunteers to help us rehab and repair homes, assist in the office, work in the ReStore, serve on committees, and help with special projects that benefit the organization. Time commitments vary; some volunteers dedicate every day of the week to Habitat for Humanity, Prince William County, Manassas & Manassas Park and others spend just a few hours each month working on projects or in the ReStore. As a volunteer for Habitat for Humanity, Prince William County, Manassas & Manassas Park, you can choose to volunteer as little or as often as you would like. All of these positions are a tremendous help that directly or indirectly result in the construction of simple, decent homes.
Ready To Volunteer? Once you have registered as a volunteer you will be able to "Sign up" for volunteer days using the Volunteer Calendar . Simply click the “Sign Up” button on the calendar date when you’d like to work and enter your log-in information if you are not already signed in. Check the box next to the times and projects where you’d like to work (and uncheck any where you aren’t interested in working, if needed). Select either "Schedule Only Me" or "Schedule My Group". This will bring you to a new window that says "We have successfully scheduled you AS AN INDIVIDUAL VOLUNTEER on the date(s) selected. We will email you a confirmation email within 20 minutes". Select the Link "Return to Calendar". The day you have registered for will appear in the color green meaning (see the color legend at the top left of the page), "Your Schedule". Available dates appear in the color blue dates that are full appear in the color red. You can select the "Change" button to make changes to your schedule such as cancelling your volunteer day. You will receive an e-mail confirmation prior to the work date confirming the date, time and location. If you do not receive a confirmation e-mail, we will help you troubleshoot. Just e-mail or call Tiffanie 703-369-6708. Also, please note that when the number of volunteers needed for that work date is reached, the project will appear in pink with the message “This Date Full.” We’d like to ask that if you sign up but find that you are not going to be able to attend, that you cancel your reservation so that someone on the waiting list may attend. Please note that the schedule could change at any time. To volunteer for any of our sites (Construction or ReStore), individuals must be, aged 16 and over. Where we need your help:
Restore*: Individuals, businesses and contractors donate building materials and furniture to the ReStore and the donations are resold to the general public at a 40% to 90% discount off retail prices. The proceeds help us help more families. As a volunteer, you would help receive donations, prep them for resale and provide customer service.

Untitled from Jennifer Collins on Vimeo. When the City of Manassas was chosen as the national pilot site for the first-ever "1 By Youth" neighborhood makover project, Neighborhood Services Manager Kisha Wilson-Sogunro chose the Georgetown South Community as a project site. Habitat for Humanity participated in planning and implementation of this massive, one-day neighborhood makeover where 1200 volunteers from Virginia, West Virginia, Pennsylvania and Maryland joined forces to paint fences, mulch playgrounds, build walkways, and paint swingsets. A 12-minute video, “Georgetown South: Community at a Crossroads” was produced by Kayt Jonsson, a graduate film student and Casey Nitsch, an undergraduate student in Anthropology, for their Documentary Storytelling class, led by Professor Nina Shapiro-Perl at American University.
