Have you wanted to help Hurricane Katrina victims through our local affiliate? Now you can through Project Rehab: East Biloxi Repairs!

East Biloxi, Mississippi, is an ethnically mixed, low-income area that was hit by Hurricane Katrina. Eighty to ninety percent of the single-family, one story, WWII era, wood frame homes (800-1500 s.f.) in East Biloxi were severely damaged. Eighty-two percent of the homeowners had no flood insurance and many have little or no funds to rebuild.

Homes are in various stages of rehabilitation. They start out stripped down to the frame, "mucked" out and treated for mold. Habitat for Humanity brings them up to livable condition with drywall, flooring, trim work, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, cabinetry, and painting.

If you are interested in participating on a construction team during the week of October 19-25, please register as a volunteer. In addition, you will need to print out the waiver at here , fill it in and send it to us. Our affiliate’s volunteers will work in coordination with volunteers from Habitat for Humanity Northern Virginia and other groups from around the country.
